Una cura della balbuzie, sia in età pediatrica che in età adulta
Nel nostro modello di intervento terapeutico si parte dal presupposto che il balbuziente va aiutato a comprendere che il suo linguaggio alterato è frutto di un modello di pensiero e di emotività che ha radici nella propria personalità. Va sempre sottolineato che il balbuziente, bambino o adulto che sia, nel chiuso della propria stanza, protetto dal temuto giudizio negativo da parte degli altri, parla bene e senza nessun sintomo evidente.
Nelle ricerche del dott. Bitetti, il problema balbuzie viene visto essenzialmente come un sintomo, frutto di una scarsa propensione del balbuziente a canalizzare al meglio le proprie risorse emozionali.
Per più di cinquant’anni si è assistito a dei modelli di intervento di tipo rieducativo, perché si tendeva a credere e in parte lo si crede tuttora, che il balbuziente fosse un soggetto da rieducare nella parola, protesi a credere che il problema vero fosse l’evidente difficoltà ad estrinsecare parole. Soffermarsi sulla parte periferica del problema, sulla manifesta difficoltà di linguaggio, tende a far perdere di vista, o peggio, a non tener conto del valore relazionale e del significato psicologico del problema balbuzie.
La “madre di tutta la questione è il pensare male di sé”
Non perché il balbuziente non possiede qualità, ma perché è abituato a controllare esageratamente le proprie risorse. Va in controtendenza rispetto alle reali esigenze della vita quotidiana. Questa censura , per i soggetti predisposti alla balbuzie, è un processo appreso sin da piccoli e che ostacola la possibilità di espansione, inibendo così la libertà di relazione.
Nel balbuziente è forte la paura del giudizio degli altri, ma che in fondo è il giudizio negativo che egli esprime verso se stesso e questo, solo nel momento del rapporto interpersonale.
Ecco perché il balbuziente quando è solo sta bene, è sereno, proprio perché non mette in gioco se stesso e quindi, parla bene. e inibisce la possibilità di espansione, generando una forte paura di un eventuale giudizio negativo da parte degli altri, ma che di fondo non è altro che un proprio giudizio negativo rivolto a se stessi. Questo diventa l’elemento ansiogeno più caratteristico e radicato, che segna nel profondo il modello di pensiero irrazionale di chi balbetta
